Fundamental Shotgun Course - Trap Shooting

Instructor will comprehensively address shooting safety, regulations, and hands-on training for proficient shotgun handling. Overview of the rules and regulations governing shotgun usage, student will have the opportunity to practice various aspects of shotgun operation, from loading and aiming to firing and unloading. This hands-on practice will enhance your confidence and competence in wielding a shotgun safely and effectively.

OVERVIEW


This comprehensive course provides hands-on training and the basic knowledge necessary to safely handle, load, fire, basic marksmanship, and maintain popular types of California shotguns for trap shooting.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


None - Beginners welcome.


COURSE OUTLINE


  • Responsible firearms ownership and applications of the shotgun

  • Firearms safety training for range

  • Potential dangers (penetration, accidental discharges, etc.)

  • Components and operation of shotguns

  • Types, components, and purposes of ammunition

  • Applicable laws relating to the possession, transportation, and storage of firearms

  • Administrative loading and unloading of pistols

  • Fundamentals of basic shooting techniques

  • Classes starting at 10:00am will run until 12:00pm.

  • Classes starting at 01:00pm will run until 03:00pm.


EQUIPMENT LIST


  • Academy-Supplied Firearms and Ammo - 2 Shotgun, target, safety glasses and hearing protection is included in the cost of this option.

  • Bring Your Firearms and Ammo - Shotgun, safety glasses and hearing protection.

  • Dress suitably for the activity and weather: long pants, hat, closed-toe shoes (no flip flops/sandals), and a modest crew neck or button-up shirt recommended.

  • Bring Your Firearms and Ammo - 100 rounds range ammunition.
